Fennel is 13 and a half years old. I adopted her almost four years ago from Cats Protection. She is a beautiful dark ginger tabby with lovely yellow eyes.
Fennel is quite reserved and does not like being picked up. She will sometimes sit beside me on my wide chair, but never on my lap.
However, she loves being groomed, and is never far away when I am working in the garden.
Fennel likes the garden so much that, during the summer, she sleeps out there – although she always returns to the house when it’s time for breakfast.
In spring and autumn, she takes to the conservatory and seems to think she is a pot plant, stretching out on the bench.
Even during the winter, I cannot entice her into using a pet bed. Sometimes she sleeps on top of me in bed; at other times, she sleeps on the stairs. Her current favourite place is the bath.
Fennel is quite a vocal cat and always gives a little chirrup when I enter the room. She is also loudly demanding at mealtimes.
Likes A small bowl of cream after her dinner
Dislikes Any other cat on her territory
Finest hour Leaping straight from a chair on to me at the far side of the double bed, rather than walking across the room
