It’s the holidays! The time of year for families to gather together to celebrate traditions, share old memories, and make new ones. This year, as you surround yourself with family and friends, both two-legged and four-legged alike, remember there are millions of dogs in shelters, patiently waiting for a family of their own.
For some, this won’t be their first, second, or even their third Christmas behind bars.
We’re calling this the 12 Dogs of Christmas. The Dogington Post along with our friends at Wellness Natural Pet Food have joined forces to introduce you to 12 needy dogs in hopes that they’ll finally get noticed…and maybe get a home for the holidays!
Meet Scotch!
Name of Shelter or Rescue Organization: Paws in the City, Dallas, TX
Age: 2.5 years old
How long at shelter/rescue: Since January 2015
Type/Size/Sex: Pharaoh Hound/Great Dane, Large, Neutered Male
Scotch’s Story:
My name is Scotch, and I’ve been waiting patiently for my furever home for a while now and, quite honestly, the waiting is getting old. I’m more than ready for my furever family, thank you very much. I’m a handsome two and half year old medium to large guy – the rescue folks think I’m a Pharaoh hound and Great Dane mix – with a gorgeous tawny coat and beautiful green eyes. And I’m graceful, too! Or so the rescue folks tell me. Had a somewhat rough beginning, but thanks to all the training the rescue folks have invested in me, I’m now much more confident in myself. I’d make a wonderful addition to your family – as long as I’m the only four-legged family member and there’s no young children around. The ideal human will be a strong leader for me and help me continue to mature. The wonderful folks here at Paws in the City will provide training to the right person. Please consider making me a part of your family. You won’t regret it!
Special Considerations: Scotch needs a pet free and child free home.
Scotch’s Perfect Family: My perfect family includes a leader who is going to keep up with my training protocol.
Scotch will soon face Christmas without a family to call his own.
Does Scotch seem like the perfect fit for your family? Here’s how to begin the adoption process:
If you are interested in Scotch, please fill out an adoption application here. We will be in touch shortly after receiving your application to review it with you. If the application is approved the adoption team will send the foster coordinator your application, and they will work with the foster or boarding facility to get a time scheduled for an introduction or home visit. The __dog will then come for a play date if all parties agree the process should continue. The adoption contract will be signed prior to leaving the dog. During the play date, you can determine if it’s a fit and if it is a fit the dog will stay for good. If it’s not, you will work with the adoption coordinator to return the dog.
All dogs are spayed/neutered, fully vetted, microchipped and on heartworm and flea and tick preventative.
Scotch’s adoption fee of $200 will be reduced to $100. We do require a home check and two free training sessions with our trainer.
Will Scotch finally find his forever with you?
