U.S. Army veteran and Sergeant 1st Class Luciano Yulfo was honored at a New York Knicks game when, after 18 long months on a waiting list, he was surprised with his new service dog, Murphy!
During a break in play between the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday, the Knicks took a moment to recognize and honor United States Army Retired Sergeant First Class Luciano Yulfo, who served the country for 36 years. The Knicks, along with former All-Star Larry Johnson, presented Yulfo with a custom jersey, thanking the retired sergeant for his service. Then, much to Yulfo’s surprise, the Knicks made the moment even more special when they surprised him with Murphy service dog!
Murphy was trained and awarded to Yulfo by Paws of War, an organization devoted to providing independence to military men and women suffering the emotional effects of war. A majority of the dogs trained and awarded by Paws of War are rescued from shelters around the country.
