Dog Left at a Shelter After Her Owner Passed Away is STILL There Five Years Later

Regardless of having been at the Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County for the better part of the past five years, Diamond almost never doesn’t have a smile on her beautiful face.  Maybe it’s because the staff there are super people and love her to death, or maybe she’s just a dog that all too happy to be a dog.  Either way, this beautiful girl still deserves a proper forever family.

“The staff absolutely love her,” said Dannie Wall, a board member at the Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County, to the Dodo.  “She’s like their dog.”

Diamond seems to almost be the eternal optimist.  It’s as if she wakes up every day with the attitude that today’s going to be the day someone FINALLY brings her home.  Even though that’s yet to happen, it doesn’t seem to take the smile from her face.

The real issue with Diamond doesn’t seem to be her breed, but the fact that she’s a little bit older now.  She’s been at the shelter for five years!  She may have come in a young pup of three years, but she’s eight now, and everyone wants a puppy these days.  Yes, they’re adorable, and there’s often no questioning that.  However, senior dogs need love too!
